37 Former Fraternity Members Charged in Death of Baruch Student, Police Say

(DNAINFO) Heather Holland — More than three dozen members of a disbanded Baruch College fraternity, including five facing third-degree murder, were charged in the death of Michael Deng, — a Baruch student who died during a fraternity trip to the Poconos in December 2013, according to police.

Chun Hsien “Michael” Deng, a 19-year-oldBaruch College student studying finance, was killed during a pledging ritual at a Poconos home on Dec. 8, 2013, where members of the Baruch fraternity, Pi Delta Psi — which has since been disbanded — blindfolded Deng, made him carry a 30-pound backpack and then shoved and struck him until he was unconscious.
