A push to run commuter rail through Penn Station | Bond Buyer

Sam Turvey and his ReThinkNYC civic organization have been battling powerful and entrenched transit and real-estate interests in their push to include through-running commuter trains as part of New York’s Penn Station modernization.
More broadly, they and others are calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to re-examine the Empire Station Complex plan. a real estate-and-transit trophy project of Hochul’s predecessor, Andrew Cuomo, and real-estate titan Vornado Realty Trust. Vornado chairman Stephen Roth donated heavily to Cuomo campaigns. Cuomo wanted to couple Penn Station expansion with up to 10 new office towers.
