(NY DAILY NEWS) Kenneth Lovett, November 26, 2016 — A group is calling on the governor and legislative leaders to break the logjam that has prevented the funding from moving forward.

With winter fast approaching, homeless advocates Monday are set to launch a new campaign designed to push Gov. Cuomo to follow through on a promise to fund the building of 6,000 new units of supportive housing over five years.

The effort by Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing will seek to generate 20,000 emails from New Yorkers on the issue to Cuomo before delivers his State of the State address in January.

The group is calling on the governor and legislative leaders to break the logjam that has prevented the funding from moving forward.

Cuomo and the Legislature in March agreed to a $2.6 billion five-year plan to construct 6,000 new supportive housing units in the state. But so far only $500 million for the projects — including $150 million to fund the first 1,200 units in the state budget approved last spring — has been authorized.
