(ThriveNYC) Alex Confer, May 12, 2018 — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we are asking you to spread the word this month about MHFA!
We now offer MHFA at locations across the city, and add more every week! If you know of any group that would like to coordinate an MHFA training for themselves, we will be happy to make it happen! Please invite your friends, family, colleagues and networks to be First Aiders too. They can check out our MHFA website to sign up for a training or request a group training in their community.
Reducing stigma takes effort and we need your help to spread the message!
The Third Annual Thrive Together: A Weekend for Mental Health is happening May 17th-20th. During this weekend, thousands of communities and houses of worship from all five boroughs, all fifty states, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. are committing to have conversations about mental health and addiction. Talking about these challenges reduces shame and stigma.
Participating is easy! All you need to do is talk about the importance of mental health awareness during your service or gathering any day between May 17th and May 20th. If you belong to an organization that is interested in participating please fill out this form and we will send you more information.
ThriveNYC strives to reduce stigma so that people can get the care they need. By increasing public awareness and knowledge about mental health issues, we can support and strengthen our communities. Reducing stigma takes effort and we need your help to spread the message!
Together we can make sure no community, no person stands alone. We can break through the cloud of shame and stigma and help our communities connect, heal and THRIVE.
Thank you for being a leader and making a difference,
Alexis Confer
