RethinkNYC, Sam Turvey, December 3, 2024

The New York Post coverage of President Elect Trump and Governor Hochul’s comments on a “Beautiful Penn Station.”

Trump wants to make crumbling Penn Station and NYC subways ‘beautiful’ again

I preface the article with my own commentary on the current state of play at Penn Station and hope the curious will take the time to read my commentary.

I especially call your attention to Point 3 where we call for an independent review of the Railroad alleged capacity findings with respect to ReThinkNYC’s through-running proposals and point out how the Railroads consultants, FX Collaborative and WSP, have not been able to “stick the landing” on this point despite many years of “trying” and many millions of public dollars spent. We seem to get a new number every time they bring it up.  This is not engineering–it is spin and a highly technocratic game of whack a mole

Also, In an editor’s note at the bottom we also question the Railroads very obvious exclusion of numerous voices in the Penn Station debate. Obviously while the Railroads  can exclude us, which is their prerogative, they cannot and will not silence us. The stakes are too important at Penn Station as we are likely looking at one of the most important land use decisions that will be made in this century.

Here are a few short vimeos which shows how through-running would operate at Penn Station
