Two Bridges Community Plan

(TWO BRIDGES) September 16, 2022

Last week, the coalition discovered Chetrit’s plan to replace the playground/basketball court area at Rutgers Park with parking for Lands End 2 residents which has been taken away due to the construction. This “temporary” parking would last 4-5 years, taking away a local opportunity to play from many children in the neighborhood. Despite never including this in any of their previous planning documents, no government agencies are willing to take action. Lands End 2 residents rallied yesterday afternoon to protest imminent construction planning to begin on Monday 5/23.

We need the NYC Departments of Transportation, Buildings, and City Planning must act immediately to halt any curb cuts to Rutgers Slip until a full list of alternatives and environmental impacts are explored.

We are sending a letter to the Department of Buildings (DOB) this afternoon at 4:00PM signed by parents in the community to demand that the DOB does its job! If you are a parent in the neighborhood, we would love your signature! Please call/text 9173103998 or email twobridgesinfo@gmail.com if you are interested in signing on and would like to see the letter’s language.
