(VEGANVITA) Here is a nice, smooth and mildly piquant fresh green juice that will give you a steady, quick and healthy boost of energy. I would like to call this the “green mean smoothie,” apart from the recipe name I gave it. It is a good juice to to have every morning as a part of our daily morning routine; as it contains fresh organic ingredients that are geared best for detoxifying our bodies effectively.

The ingredients in this green smoothie will go directly to detoxify your liver, kidney and circulatory system,  will reduce inflammation and keep your body hydrated. Although it hydrates your body, please drink water 8 ounces upon rising. Then about thirty minutes count this smoothie as part of your fluid intake.

Water is 60% of our body weight, and every organ/system depends on water because it flushes toxins out of vital organs. Water is the nutrient carrier to our cells and it’s the number one fluid in providing and maintaining a moist environment for our nose, ear, throat and mouth.

Therefore, lack of this most precious life fluid can affect your metabolism adversely and lead to many abnormal body functions. Dehydration is number one, this leads to levels of nonexistent energy which leads one to feel tired and fatigued. I hope you are grasping the picture.

Since we lose water through so many exits of our body (breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements.)it is imperative to maintain our bodies adequately hydrated. With this in mind and in order to maintain proper bodily function; we must always replenish its water supply by consuming “healthy natural” fluids. Whenever possible organic beverages that are unsweetened and foods that will keep the body hydrated.

There are many factors that are to be considered as to how much fluid one needs to maintain optimum bodily function.

According to the exchanges of expelling and re-hydrating our body with fluids, it varies amongst men and women. For men in a “temperate climate” according to (the Institute of Medicine) an adequate intake should be 3 liters (13 cups) of total fluid intake per day. For women it is roughly (2.2 liters) 9 cups of total fluid intake (1cup=8oz).

Nonetheless, the “drink 8 by 8 ounces of fluids per day,” still remains as it is easy to remember; it is not so much of a volume difference as the one reported by the Institute of Medicine. Remember absolutely “ALL” fluids count towards your daily fluid intake.

Plus, drinking an adequate amount of fluids not only keeps us hydrated as mentioned as it also assists in weight loss. If we are properly hydrated then there are less hunger pangs and we need water to promote the digestion of our food.

So, there you have it briefly, water and natural (organic were possible and recommended) beverages that we can make at home; with our health and family’s health benefit in mind.

Amazing how just with few detoxifying ingredients, we can actually pronounce produce such delicious juices/smoothies.  It will rehydrate, give you power and assist in restoring your pH levels; which is very important to maintain this balance for your immune system.

You can be creative, strive always to keep it “green” and add some cilantro and parsley if you wish or just keep it simple with these basic yet powerful ALKALIZING detoxifying ingredients.

Green Apple-Cucumber-Ginger and Lime “Wake Me Up Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

  1.  1/2 Lime, Peeled
  2. 1″ of freshly grated ginger
  3. 1/3 cucumber
  4. 1 Cup of Water (Alkaline Water is best for ultimate cleansing)
  5. 1 Granny Smith Apple
  6. (Optional) Small handful of Parsley leaves, chopped finely

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  1. All to go into your high powered blender
  2. Make sure all fruits are cleansed properly and thoroughly peel then grate or just mince the ginger
  3. Slice the cucumbers (makes it easier for processing)
  4. Roughly chop your apple
  5. Peel the lime and chop ( you may chose to use a lemon, yields same results)
  6. Parsley, wash a small handful and just take leaves and chop finely (save the stems for juicing, making stock or chop finely and add to your favorite salad or soup soup toppings.
  7. Hit blend and as your fruits are blending thru the feeding spout begin to add the 1 cup of water and pour in your glass or like I did in a champagne glass and enjoy as you watch your morning news..
  8. My motto all is used in the kitchen no discarding unless it has been used to its totally and no more may be extracted to nurture our bodies.

PARSLEY

It’s a diuretic a kidney activity stimulator that helps to flush out toxins. The chlorophyll it contains serves as blood purification because it also removes heavy metals. It is simply amazing and amazingly simple.

 LIMES/LEMONS

Are great for restoring the natural pH balance in your body. We tend to consume food that are very acidic inclusive of wheat, sugar, beer and for the carnivores, meat.

However,our bodies prefers to acquire and sustain a pH level of 7.365. Therefore adding lemons (and other greens) to your diet will help stabilize your pH level resulting in a healthier and stronger immune system.

It may also protect your brain, reduce risk of Cancer, fight inflammation, help to “cool” the inflammatory response in your body.  Rich in Antioxidant Properties which includes vitamin C and beta-carotene, antioxidant flavonoids, such as quercetin, apigenin, luteolin, and kaempferol. Freshen Your Breath if you place a cucumber slice on the roof of your mouth may help to rid your mouth of odor-causing bacteria.
