Corey Johnson Speaker New York City Council’s Reminders and Actions

Dear Friends:

When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit New York City, we took all the precautions needed to successfully flatten the curve. Our response revealed a lot about who we are at our core. That is one of the many reasons I am so confident in our city today.

Now, as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in communities across the nation, including right here in New York, we cannot give up. With millions of people still at risk of catching the coronavirus and suffering from the economic upheaval caused by the pandemic, the stakes remain high.

So, please continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance from others in public, avoid large gatherings, and get tested. These actions will largely determine the future of the pandemic.

Just as importantly, please exercise your right to vote in the upcoming general election . It’s the single most important thing that we can do to help shape the future of our city, nation, and planet. Information on voting, including early and absentee voting, can be found here.

As you’ll see in the updates below, the City Council is continuing to work hard to help improve and protect the lives of all New Yorkers amid the pandemic. Thank you for doing your part too.

I look forward to continuing our work together to help ensure that our city gets through this challenging time. Stay safe.

In service,

Corey Johnson
Speaker
New York City Council
