35th Dominican American National Day Parade

“Over the past several years, the leadership of the Dominican Day Parade had been under scrutiny because the non-profit organization at its helm was not being run according to New York State law. The Dominican Day Parade is being produced by a new not-for-profit organization, which will focus on celebrating the culture and heritage of the Dominican-American community on Sunday, August 14th. The key theme for this year’s parade is “Honoring and Empowering the Dominican Woman.” dominicanparade.org

 

Last year’s parade followed these guidelines for formation streets. Formation streets will be closed Sunday from 12:01 am. And these streets will be cleared of cars. Parade floats will load in starting at 8:00am. Participants arrive at 9:00am

 

Parade steps off at Noon to 6 pm for the Dominican Day Parade as permitted by NYPD.

•   38th Street between Broadway and Madison Avenue

Check out the exhibit “Rembrandt’s First Masterpiece,” which explores the painter’s first mature work “Judas Returning the Thirty Pieces of Silver,” which Rembrandt created when he was just 23-years-old.

Midtown Community Block Party

The following street will be closed Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm for the Midtown Community Block Party as permitted by the Mayor’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Vanderbilt YMCA Lexington Avenue Festival

The following street will be closed Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm for the Vanderbilt YMCA Lexington Avenue Festival as permitted by the Mayor’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Lexington Avenue between 42nd Street and 53rd Street

 

Manhattan

West 37th Street between 9th Avenue and 8th Avenue

This street will be closed 10 pm Friday to 8 am Sunday and 10 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

East 47th Street between Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue

This street will be closed 3 am to 1 pm Saturday and/or Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

West 47th Street between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 12:01 am to 5 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 48th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 4 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 51st Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 3 am to 1 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 53rd Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 3 am to 1 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 55th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 4 am to 3 pm to facilitate crane operation

 

Battery Park Underpass

One tube in either direction will be fully closed Monday night to Friday morning from 10 pm to 5 am and Saturday from 1 am to 8 am to facilitate NYCDOT Bridge rehabilitation work. Motorists should follow posted detours.

FDR Drive (southbound) from 68th Street and 63rd Street

One of three lanes southbound will be closed from 11 pm to 5:30 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 6:30 am Saturday and from 1 am to 11 am Sunday to facilitate long term building construction.

FDR Drive at East 81st Street

One of three lanes in either direction (northbound or southbound) may be closed from 11 pm to 5:30 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 6:30 am Saturday and 1 am to 11 am Sunday. Two of three lanes northbound may be closed from 1 am to 5 am Tuesday to Friday, 2 am to 6 am Saturday and 2 am to 7 am Sunday to facilitate long term NYCDOT pedestrian bridge reconstruction.

Trans-Manhattan Expressway (TME) Connector Ramp from George Washington Bridge to Harlem River Drive
