NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION ON MAY 31 CALLS FOR END TO PROFIT-DRIVEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, DEMANDS SINGLE PAYER REFORM
San Francisco, CA — As pressure mounts nationwide over cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, National Single Payer, a grassroots coalition of health advocates, announces a coast-to-coast mobilization on May 31, 2025, to demand a publicly financed National Single Payer healthcare system.
The National Day of Action, under the theme “People over Profit “seeks to turn growing national outrage into organized protest by calling for:
Over 140 national and local organizations have endorsed the effort, with actions planned in more than 25 cities, along with a nationwide livestream of events on May 31.
Organizers say this marks a pivotal moment in healthcare activism.
“Americans are fed up with a system where private insurers siphon public funds, overload care with red tape, and put profits ahead of people’s health. After the passing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO, we witnessed a wave of public outrage that exposed just how deeply this resentment runs. This year’s protest comes amid legislative moves to cut Medicaid and ACA supports—policies that analysts warn could result in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans. In response, organizers are pushing for a Medicare for All-style solution that would eliminate:
Organizers stress that now is the time to move healthcare from a profit-centered industry to a people-centered system, ensuring equity, access, and dignity for all Americans.
