[NEW YORK, NY, — Friday, January 10 2025] — Join us one week from today, January 10, 2025, 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM on 250 Broadway, between Murray Street and Park Place to ask our City’s elected officials to support Bill 1096-2024, a revival of Charles Barron’s bill, now sponsored by Chris Marte.
Bill 1096-2024, a Local Law to amend the administrative code to protect the health insurance coverage and contributions of retired employees of the city of New York, is co-sponsored by the following Councilmembers: Robert F. Holden, Kalman Yeger, Linda Lee, Vickie Paladino, Kristy Marmorato, and Inna Vernikov.
In addition: Marianna Pizzitola, NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees; Roberta Gelb, Chelsea Reform Democratic Club (CRDC); Cheryl Kunis, Physicians For a National Health Plan (PNHP); Leonard Poletta (CDRC); Helene Jeffers, NYC Council Of Supervisors (CSA); Luana Green and Susan Immergut, Penn South (not-for-profit) Co-op; Jay Schaffner, Leaps; Carla Fine, Chelsea Retirees; Midtown South Community Council (MSCC); and other coalition members all stand in solidarity with Councilmember Chris Marte and his Bill 1096-2024 and against the Corporate care system (that continuously puts profits over people).
We are asking the City’s Councilmembers to support the civil service retirees by co-signing Bill 1096-2024, which will stop the Mayor from forcing New York City’s retirees off Traditional Medicare and into a corporate disAdvantage Plan.
