Free NASA Designed Summer Program in Jamaica to Focus on Robotics

(DNAINFO) Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska — This summer, kids will get to study robotics during a free NASA-sponsored Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program held at York College in Jamaica.

The classes, offered for students in first through seventh grades from the entire Tri-state area, will begin on Tuesday, July 6.

Kids will be “exposed to STEM projects using Legos and Robotics,” a York College representative said in an email.

The hands-on workshops are part of the NASA Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy program (SEMAA), a project “designed to increase participation and retention of historically underrepresented K-12 youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” according to SEMAA’s website.
