Man Fatally Shot in Head Walking in Harlem in Broad Daylight, Police Say

(DNAINFO) Kathleen Culliton and Ben Fractenberg | September 23, 2016 — The shooting happened at West 141st Street near Frederick Douglas Boulevard at about 1:50 p.m.

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in the head while he was walking on West 141st Street in broad daylight Friday afternoon, officials and police sources said.

The 21-year-old was walking east on 141st Street near Frederick Douglas Boulevard at about 1:50 p.m. when Koron Bailey, 30, started following him on a skateboard, an NYPD spokesman and sources said.

When the victim tried to run away, Bailey then shot him once in the back in front of 230 W. 141 St., police said The 21-year-old fell to the ground and the shooter then walked up to him and fired once more, striking him in the head, a source said.

The 21-year-old was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, police and sources said.

Bailey, photos of whom were released Sunday night, then fled north on his skateboard along Frederick Douglas, police said.

Bailey is about 5 feet 7 inches and 160 pounds, police said Sunday.
