Man Who Attacked Asian Women Found Hanged in UES Elevator Shaft, NYPD Says

(DNAINFO)  Aidan Gardiner — A man who randomly attacked a string of Asian women in Manhattan after he said they rejected his romantic advanceswas found hanged in a Lenox Hill elevator shaft Monday, police said.

Tyrelle Shaw, 25, who had left a suicide note, was found in the elevator shaft of 766 Madison Ave., near East 66th Street, and pronounced dead at the scene, an NYPD spokesman said.

Shaw had attacked four Asian women in Manhattan, hitting each in the face with a bag containing a heavy object, in what he called “The Nose Game,” police said.

The women were treated and released from area hospitals, police said.

On his blog, Shaw said he attacked the women because they and 1,500 other Asian women had rejected his romantic overtures.

“In less than 350 days, I talked to nearly 1500 Asian Women and none of them took time out of their day to say hello. I became furious. I never agreed with violence, but I knew the only way I could overcome that sense of rejection-would start by assaulting the Women that carelessly rejected me,” he wrote in a June 17 post titled “Why I Decided to Leave Earth.”

Shaw, who lived about four blocks from where he hanged himself, continued on in the post to lay out how he would eventually be found dead.

“Inform NYPD they could stop searching for me because I’m going to commit suicide. Actually, I’ve already tied a noose to the bottom of an elevator and I’m going to wait until someone pushes a button so that its not considered a practical suicide. This is actually murder,” Shaw wrote.

“Thank you. I love you,” he concluded.
