PROGRAM:
John Mudd introduces Deputy Inspector Brendan Timoney, who reviews crime statistics for the precinct, citing arrests involving felony assault and the thefts of wallets from women’s purses.
Inspector Timoney discusses the NYPD policy of Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCO) program, which will be phased into MTS by November. This reorganization of patrol methods is currently established in many NYPD precincts.
It was announced that MTS Community Affairs Det. Paul Spano has retired.
SPEAKERS:
Det. Wilson Colon of the Police Commissioner’s Office explained the Neighborhood
Coordination Officers program (NOC). The program strives to improve communication and collaboration between local police officers and the community.
Erica Strang, director of the Manhattan Outreach Consortium of The Center for Urban Community Services (estrange@cucs.org). Her organization provides outreach and case management services to everyone living on the streets in Manhattan, with a focus on housing.
Nicole Mylan Program Director, Harmonia, Services for the UnderServed (S:US). Harmonia is the shelter for 170 adult families housed in the former Chandler Hotel 12 E31st St. She explained the services and staffing at the shelter.
MEETING OPENS FOR COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS
Resident of the area said that the interstate bus office on lower Broadway has been closed. Tickets are still being sold individually.
Conditions Team responded to issues at Gardenia Deli, 404 8th Ave
Manager of Duane Reade, 34th St & Park Ave said that conditions have gotten worse. Peanuts and Red Bull stolen from the store were being sold from a van nearby. An individual doing the selling was arrested by Sgt. Hansen and his team.
