NYPD Officer Killed in East Harlem Shooting
(DNAINFO) Murray Weiss — An NYPD officer was shot and killed Tuesday night in a shootout with a suspect in East Harlem, officials said.
Officer Randolph Holder, 33, was shot in the head when he and his partner responded to a report of gunshots in a park at East 102nd Street and the FDR Drive at roughly 8:30 p.m., according to sources and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Holder was a five-year NYPD veteran and was assigned to the department’s Housing Bureau. He worked out of PSA 5.
“We’re all in mourning tonight. The whole city is mourning,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference late Tuesday night. “We are humbled by Officer Randolph Holder’s example, an example of service, courage and sacrifice. We offer our prayers to his family.”
