Officer Miosotis Familia Funeral Arrangements Set in The Bronx

(DNAINFO) Janon Fisher and Ben Fractenberg | July 10, 2017 — Funeral arrangements have been set for Officer Miosotis Familia, 48, who was fatally shot by a mentally unstable ex-con just after midnight on Wednesday.

The officer, a mother of three and 12-year veteran of the NYPD, was gunned down by Alexander Bonds, 34, who served at least two terms in state prison for drug and armed robbery.

The wake for the officer will be held at The World Changers Church, located at 2417 Grand Concourse on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the same location.

The burial has been tentatively set for Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, according to the NYPD.

A number of police charities are collecting money for the children of the slain officer.

Answer the Call and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, as well as the Thin Blue Line USA, have started funds for the family.

Tunnel to Towers announced they had already taken in $130,000 by Friday afternoon and people can make a donation on their website. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to housing costs and a trust for the children.

Familia’s oldest daughter, Genesis Villella, 20, said the officer was “selfless and sacrificed so much” for her children.
