SUV Swerves Onto Hell’s Kitchen Sidewalk, Hurting 2 People, NYPD Says

(DNAINFO)  Aidan Gardiner | June 15, 2017 — A black SUV carrying children hopped the curb in Hell’s Kitchen injuring two people, one seriously, Thursday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The SUV hurtled down West 37th Street, drove up on the sidewalk where it hit at least one person before slamming into a metal planter and came to a rest outside the Hudson Crossing Apartments at 300 W. 37th St., near Ninth Avenue, FDNY and NYPD spokesmen said.

The black SUV had swerved out of the way of a truck making deliveries and then hopped the curb, according to a witness.

It drove about 20 feet on the sidewalk until it came to a rest and people started jumping out, according to Jamel Daiffalah, a cashier at a deli across the street.

Several children could be seen sitting in the back of the SUV as firefighters surrounded the crash site.

Emergency medical crews were walking people in braces and slings away from the battered SUV.

One person was treated for serious injuries at Bellevue, where they were listed in stable condition, an NYPD spokesman said.
