The Civilian Compliant Review Board (CCRB) is a city agency, independent from the New York Police Department, that investigates and mediates complaints against NYPD officers in a neutral and unbiased manner. The CCRB investigates allegations of excessive force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, and offensive language. There are numerous ways to file a complaint with the CCRB.

By Phone – CCRB’s Hotline: To file a complaint, you can call the CCRB’s hotline Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm, and speak directly to an investigator: 1-800-341-2272

Come to our Office anytime between 8 am and 5 pm to speak with an investigator. No appointment is necessary.

Go to a Participating Council Member’s District Office. The Community Partners Initiative (CPI) accommodates complainants who can’t travel during conventional business hours to CCRB’s lower Manhattan office. Hosted in participating council member’s offices in all five boroughs, CCRB staff will be available to answer questions or even receive a complaint in-person.
