VIDEO: See What a Train Operator Sees While Riding the 7 Line – Chelsea

(DNAINFO) Sybile Penhirin | January 7, 2016 — The sped up video, which shows the conductor’s view throughout the entire 7 line, was shot by Max Diamond, a 19-year-old student at the City College of New York who regularly posts subway videos on his DJ Hammer YouTube account.

Diamond, who describes himself as a “huge transit enthusiast,” said he waited about an hour at the recently opened 34th street-Hudson Yards station before he could hop on one of the city’s trains that has a large window in the front.

“They are only a few types of trains in the city subway system where the operator’s cabin only takes up one third of the front of the train, and the rest is a space where passengers can stand and look through a front window,” said Diamond, a native New Yorker who’s been passionate about train since he was a kid.
